The Grey Squirrel is the most common squirrel in North America. It's habit of gathering and storing food for the winter has allowed the species to survive for more than 35 million years. A common misconception about squirrels is that they hibernate during the winter. While true that squirrels are rarely seen during extreme cold, this is because they remain near their nest where it is warm. Most squirrels eat nuts, seeds, grain and fruit – nuts being their favorite.

What can I say about Fred? — I will chase him and make him climb trees. He thinks he's so smart. Many times, he pretends to be a branch. He thinks I would never see him that way. When I do, I wait for him to climb down and I chase him back up. I love to scare him! — Of course, I would never hurt him.
